About the Fountain On Main!

Originated in July of 2003, The Fountain on Main features an authentic 1946 Stanley Knight soda fountain! Originally a 12 stool counter with 6 diner chairs, the soda shop was a quaint little place. In May of 2005, the soda shop was expanded to include 16 more seats with 4 tables in a back room and a larger prep kitchen. After many years of continued growth downtown the need developed to have a larger dining area and, in July of 2013, the soda shop was expanded to its current form, which includes seating for 70 as well as a full griddle to do burgers, grilled ham and cheese, and other all-American diner classics found on the menu.
Fun features of the soda fountain (besides the soda fountain itself) is an authentic jukebox that plays 45 rpm records as well as neon signs, neon lights, and fifties memorabilia.
The soda fountain is open weekdays during the lunch hours and is able to be booked for private parties and special events! In addition to its everyday menu, there are special favorites that are offered from time to time in an ongoing effort to provide more choices to downtown patrons. Some of the more popular items offered are as follows... chopped olive-nut sandwich (made famous by Jim's Fountain Service, a downtown Springfield staple for almost 50 years)...grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup... homemade chili... fried Bologna... seared ham and cheese sandwiches... and homemade salad-style sandwiches including chicken salad, Hawaiian chicken salad, ham salad, tuna salad, and egg salad.- All homemade! Other homemade offerings include homemade pies, “from scratch” cookies, as well as other dessert favorites. Themed in (and proudly serving) Coca-Cola and Ohio State Scarlet and Gray, The Fountain on Main is a trip back into an easier time with very beautiful décor as well as a meticulous attention to detail when it comes to quality of service and consistency of product delivery!
